Looping Midi's!
If anybody is wondering why this works, it is because of the way that all the rpgmakers (and most computers in general) look to see where to restart it from
controller event 111(no data) is in the song. If it finds it at the very end of the song(where it would normally be) or doesn't find it at all it repeats from the begining, if its anywhere else it starts over from that point.
If I remember correctly this can also be done with a certain mp3 tag that all the rpgmakers can loop from, you might look up how to do that and add it too.

Would anyone be up for some Netplay?
I don't actually play Warcraft 2I might find my bootlegged copy though, since I lost my disk a long time ago anymore, but do you own Warcraft 3?
Also, is anyone else here a fan of RTS games?

Can´t play music with RPG Maker 2003
Also though, if you use rm2k3 v1.05 or higher, it doesn't use the harmony.dll to play music, instead the rpg_rt.exe uses microsoft directsound to play all types of music, if thats the case though I can't really help you with a directsound error.
Indie games that have impacted you
I was influenced by the bouncing white dot (the earliest version of pong, I don't think it had a name) created by bored U.S. scientists on a military supercomputer that was supposed to be used for calculating missile trajectories and coordinates and such.
I remember seeing it once in a documentary on the history of videogames, but a quick internet search didn't bring it up.(Guess most people didn't count it as a videogame)
I consider it the first videogame ever made, and of course it can be classified as an indie game.

This is not a kentocracy. It is a kentatorship, and I am the kentator.
Hmmm... Kentator... Sounds like a kind of potatoe to me. Do you taste good when mashed and fried with extra garlic?
The Master RPG Maker Helpful Things Topic
I added two patches to the 2000/2003 patches that might also be useful, if you would include them in the patches section.
Edit: Since apparently this thread as never been checked and the PM refuses to work for me, here are the patches:
Force Harmony- cherry and banan-joe's
'Downgrades' rm2k value and rm2k3 1.05 and higher to use the origanal harmony.dll, allowing the Ineluki key patch and other patchs that require the harmony.dll to work. Although this also adds the problems of the origanal harmony.dll, such as the midi glitches and no mp3s, though both of these can be fixed with patches that require the harmony.dll.

Disharmony Patch- Derula
Allows rm2k and rm2k3 1.04 and lower to use mp3s and oggs with fades, simply by adding .wav behind their extension.
Download: http://uglyhorst.de/rPG%20Maker/patches
Also, you might add the fact that in rm2kvalue and rm2k3 1.05 and up multilayered message commands such as \N[\V] commands can be used. \N[\V] shows the name of the hero that's number is equal to variable1's value.

Your RM Preference
I prefer our reprogrammed version of rm2k. Still has the classic rpg feel and graphics, but with a whole lot more functions. (Besides who needs scripts when you can change the way the whole thing works by editing the rpg_rt.exe)
And also theres the fact that we started making our game in it, and I'd have a full blown mutiny on my hands if I decide we should scrap it and start over in a new engine.

Can´t play music with RPG Maker 2003
You might try opening up your windows media player and rm2k3. Then play a midi in the media player and a midi in rm2k3 at the same time. Then exit out of media player without stopping the music.
If that works its a bug that happens with the harmony.dll, if you are using versions 1.04 and below, its because the harmony.dll uses windows mediaplayer to play midis,(not waves), and if you pause or stop a midi while in mediaplayer and then exit without starting it again, it can no longer play midis.
My suggestion though is if you are using v1.04 or below is to upgrade to 1.09, more features.
